SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO VISIT THE DOCTOR…DR. SKETCHY’S ANTI ART SCHOOL!

Took my first trip to “Dr. Sketchy ‘s Anti Art School”.  These drawings use the PENTEL POCKET BRUSH PEN & NEOCOLOR II wax pastel crayons, on toned Strathmore paper. The Dr Sketchy experience provides sketchers with models that are performers, at unconventional venues. Personally, I far prefer the costumed figure to the nekkid variety.

It felt like trying to catch a bus that was leaving the station: there is never enough time to draw as long as necessary or as long as you would want. These are fifteen and twenty minute poses, concentrating on gesture and attitude.

Artists were working on varied approaches to the figure, with a broad variety of mediums. The song ” ST. JAMES INFIRMARY” played in the background, and we were all festooned with Mardi Gras beads to add a bit of spice to the moment. Two hours passed in a flash and once again I am reminded that time spent with focus is time spent well.
