Took STILLMAN & BIRN’s BETA JOURNAL along for the ride all weekend: a great painting and drawing paper. I have been drawing a lot with ink and markers, so getting out the paint felt really good. Switching things up keeps the process fresh. It is good to have small increments of time to quickly describe an environment—-all part of honing the ability to filter information. Also keeps dinner companions from feeling left out of the equation.

Always an inspiration. I LOVED your class last Fri/Sat. It has started me on a journey to try to sketch everyday. I’m not brave enough yet to try public sketching but that’s my goal. Thanks, Ellen

Thank so much for letting me know that daily sketching is part of your world! Drawing changes the way you ‘ SEE” life! The thing to realize about public sketching is that the very act itself- independent of what you generate- is almost universally supported. Seeing someone draw taps back into that feeling we have when we are small and have no sense of boundary. It is a lifelong journey to find one’s way back to that place- but a worthwhile journey it is indeed!
